How to delete your account and data
You can delete your IWasKidnapped.com account and request deletion of your personal data at any time.
From the app
- Open the IWasKidnapped.com app.
- Go to Settings → Account → Delete account.
- Confirm. Your access is disabled immediately and your account is queued for deletion.
By email
If you cannot access the app, email support@iwaskidnapped.com from the address registered to your account and ask us to delete it.
What gets deleted
- Your account (email and password hash).
- Files you uploaded.
- Your emergency-contacts list.
- Alert media (audio and photos) and alert records.
- Location, IP, and battery history associated with your account.
- Session tokens and push token.
What we may retain, and why
For your safety, deletion is confirmed by a person before data is permanently erased — this prevents someone from forcing deletion of evidence during an emergency. We may also retain limited data where the law requires it, or forensic data (such as IP records) frozen in connection with a triggered alert, as described in our Privacy Policy (Section 5). Such data is not used for any other purpose and is deleted when its retention period ends.
Timeline
Your access is revoked as soon as you request deletion. Permanent erasure is completed as soon as practicable after the request is reviewed. If you have questions about the status of your request, contact support@iwaskidnapped.com.
